Why she loves it here. “At Northwestern we have all these options – amazing classes, amazing student groups, musical events every week at Pick-Staiger Concert Hall. I will graduate a well-rounded person.”

Why comp lit? In high school, Stephanie was involved with Science Olympiad and math team. At Northwestern, her fascination with classes on Jewish storytelling and Marcel Proust uncovered other interests. “Comp lit combines philosophy, languages, critical theory, and reading. It’s like human anatomy, but instead of a body, it’s a book. It took me a lot of classes to realize what I really liked. Northwestern encourages you to explore.”

Other Northwestern opportunities? Stephanie has also become an avid pianist, performing in a trio through the Bienen School of Music. Her copy-editing job at the Daily Northwestern, the student newspaper, led to an internship at Newsday in New York. And most surprising to her? She found her inner athlete, rowing on the crew team and playing intramural floor hockey, soccer, even football.
