Degree Requirements for Transfer Students
To earn a degree from Northwestern's Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, you must:
- Take courses in six major intellectual areas (distribution requirements).
- Participate in 2 freshman seminars (WAIVED for transfer students, even those who enter without a full year of college credits).
- Demonstrate proficiency in a foreign language.
- Demonstrate proficiency in writing (WAIVED for external transfers) You’ve already proven yourself in college-level work. However, if you have doubts about your ability to write well in Northwestern courses, please speak to your Weinberg Adviser about your options.
- Concentrate in a field of inquiry (your major).
- Complete a specified number of courses and quarters, as indicated on your credit evaluation. In no case will this be less than 23 courses and 6 quarters.
