The Department of Arican American Studies in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. Recent Ph.Ds (degree granted during or after 2010) with a committment to the field of African American and/or African Diaspora studies are encouraged to apply.
This two-year fellowship program is residential and provides a competitive stipend and benefits, a visiting appointment in the Department of African American Studies (including teaching one or two classses in the department), and participation in the intellectual life of the Department and University. Applicants must complete all Ph.D. requirements before Sept. 1, 2012.

Northwestern University invites applications for a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Humanities and Humanistic Social Sciences focused on ancient or early medieval Mediterranean world. Research expertise may lie with visual or material culture, archaeological fieldwork, or text-based scholarship, but must address interaction with the Middle East or North African and should demonstrate an interdisciplinary character.

Postdoctoral Fellow in Dance Studies (this is a teaching position)

A consortium of three research universities- Brown, Northwestern and Stanford seeks to appoint Mellon Postdoctoral Fellows in Dance Studies for the 2012-13 academic year. Fellows will be associated with humanities centers on each campus and will teach teach two undergraduate courses. In addition, fellows will attend intensive weeklong seminars, held the summer before and after the fellowship year, devoted to strategies for interdisciplinary research and teaching. International applicants are welcome, as are applicants from Ph.D. in all fields in the humanities and humanistic social sciences that border dance studies.
The initial appointment is for one year, renewable for a second year. Applicants must have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. no later than July 15, 2012 and no earlier than July 15, 2008. Campus placement and departmental affiliations will be determined by the Search Committee.

Associate or Full Professor of Quantitative Psychology

We are seeking candidates whose research focuses on health applications of quantitative methodology. Of particular interest are candidates who can build on existing strengths in measurement science and longitudinal modeling. The Science in Human Culture Program (SHC) at Northwestern University invites applications for two-year postdoctoral fellowships in the contextual study of science, technology, or medicine, to run September 2012 - August 2014. Two Fellows will be selected. Applications are welcome from scholars who study science, technology, or medicine from a variety of historical, philosophical, sociological, anthropological, or literary perspectives. Each Fellow will be affiliated with both the SHC program and an appropriate disciplinary department (History, Sociology, Philosophy, Anthropology, etc.). Fellows will pursue a program of independent scholarship and teach two one-quarter undergraduate courses each year: a seminar and a lecture course. They will also help organize and run the SHC visiting lecturer series. Applicants must complete all the requirements for the Ph.D. before September 1, 2012 or have received their degree within the last five years. The annual stipend is $46,000, plus $3,100 per year to fund research and conference travel. In order to ensure full consideration, all application materials must be received by January 15, 2012.

1) a cover letter that briefly situates your work in relation to the field and identifies the proposed departmental affiliation (please provide complete contact information);

4) a two-page research plan for the fellowship period (this may include, but should extend beyond, revisions to the dissertation);
5) titles and short descriptions of at least two undergraduate courses that you could teach;
6) a writing sample consisting of either a dissertation chapter or article (in English, maximum 50 pages); and
7) a graduate school transcript from your doctoral-degree-granting institution.
In addition, please arrange for three letters of recommendation, on institutional letterhead, to be sent either as email attachments (subject heading: “Postdoc application letter of reference”), or by mail to Science in Human Culture Program, 20 University Hall, Northwestern University, Evanston, IL 60208-2245. One letter should be from the dissertation Chair, and at least one should comment on teaching qualifications. If the Ph.D. has not yet been obtained, the letter from the Chair should indicate what remains to be completed and should discuss the completion schedule.
