Printer Recommendations

Weinberg IT recommends these printer models. HP models are available through the Hewlett Packard site in iBuyNU. Xerox models are available through the TIG site on iBuyNU.

• HP LaserJet P1606dn: Single-user printer suitable for light use

• HP LaserJet P2055dn: Network printer suitable for small groups and light use

• HP LaserJet P3015x: Network printer suitable for large groups and heavy use

• Xerox ColorQube 8570dn: Network color printer suitable for large groups and heavy use

We recommend you consider the following items when purchasing a printer:

• Single-user printers should be the exception, not the norm. Weinberg IT strongly recommends the use of network printers that can be shared by several users in the same area.
• Duplex (two-sided) printing should be set as default on all printers. Please enter a service request if you would like assistance with configuring your printer. (Please note: Not all printers are capable of duplex printing.  HP and Xerox printers capable of duplex printing will have a "d" or "x" after the model number.)
• HP printers do not ship with cables included. If you need a USB cable to connect your printer to your computer, it will have to be ordered seperately.
• Weinberg IT does not recommend purchasing InkJet printers.  The initial cost may be lower than that of a LaserJet printer, but they are less reliable and tend to have a higher cost of ownership in the long term.
• Weinberg IT recommends using your department's multifunction center (printer/copier/scanner) and fax machines rather than purchasing a personal multifunction printer.
